The Renaissance was one of the most exciting movements in history. It was a time when the world of art and ideas was to exert its control over all other spheres of influence, when new ideas would change everything, when the heroes and geniuses of enlightenment emerged to claim their places in history.

One of the major artistic accomplishments of the French Renaissance, the Château d’Écouen was built on a headland dominating the Plain of France, surrounded by a forest and a garden based on geometrical drawings carefully drawn and maintained.

A delight of Renaissance architecture and interior design, the Ecouen Castle today houses the Musée National de la Renaissance - the National Museum of the Renaissance - making it a fantastic combination of interior and exterior arts.

The Renaissance museum contains examples of decorative painting from the French Renaissance, of Germanic goldsmithery and of sculptures, in particular by Jacques Goujon and German Rammer. The Musée National de la Renaissance owes most of its fame to the tapestries entitled “David and Bethsabée”, widely considered as masterpieces.

The Musée National de la Renaissance at Château d’Écouen is a fascinating place which pays homage to the incredible time of the Renaissance, a time when mankind grew up and beauty came of age. Come enjoy it with the Paris Pass sightseeing card!

Fabulous! The Paris Pass was a great buy. Not just because for many sites there was no need to purchase any more tickets, but getting to the front of the line is essential for seeing everything you want and need to see. From the moment we picked up the pass, we began using the metro pass and that was so easy. Also, I purchased the Paris Pass online from the U.S. I was provided with great information about how and where to pick up the pass. That made the whole process fabulous!
