Beneath the streets of central Paris, the Crypte Archéologique is a huge and haunting space extending 80m under the shadow of Notre Dame Cathedral and an intriguing attraction for any visit to Paris.

The Crypte Archéologique de Notre-Dame is an atmospheric time capsule which explores the lives and artifacts of the tribes and civilizations that dwelt in Paris long ago. Here are located the telling remains of a house from Lutèce, the precursor to Paris. There are numerous Gallo-Roman artifacts, which provide a fascinating insight into the lives of the mighty Roman Empire and how they lived in Paris.

This fascinating attraction includes a splendidly recreated settlement of the Parisii, the Celtic tribe that first settled on the site of Paris 2000 years ago and from whom the city takes its name. It is a powerful reminder that the city of Paris has stood for thousands of years in the centre of a great cultural storm, and that countless people have fought and died to make Paris their home.

You can experience the eerie Crypte Archéologique de Notre-Dame for Free with the Paris Pass. Not far from the Crypte you will find the famous Towers of Notre Dame, Saint-Chapelle and Centre Pompidou – National Museum of Modern Art, all of which you can visit for free with a Paris Pass in hand.

Value for money. The Paris pass was great and we were able to visit many museums and attractions at a discount or free. We were also able to travel on the Metro for free! So go ahead and buy one and enjoy your Paris experience.

The only way to see Paris The Paris Pass allows you to hop on hop off an open top (fact-filled) tour bus, offers entry into many of the beautiful museums, galleries and attractions Paris has to offer and allows you to travel on the Metro. All in one little pack. It was useful to have everything in one pack, with a useful little pocket book filled with maps and information on Paris and the attractions - this was something that rarely left our hands! For the things that we did we using this pass definitely got value for money. We would highly recommend!!
