Paris attractions: Peruse the Conde Museum's impressive collection at the Chateau de Chantilly

The French capital is a city of museums and castles, and the Chateau de Chantilly and the Conde Museum are some of the best, making them a fantastic option for people looking for things to do in Paris.

Situated at the heart of a vast estate covering 7,800 hectares, the estate has been accumulated and built upon by various owners since the Middle Ages.

It is made up of two buildings: the Grand Chateau, which like many impressive buildings was destroyed during the French Revolution and later rebuilt, and the Petit Chateay, which dates back to around 1560.

The Conde Museum, situated within the chateau, holds one of the most impressive collections in the whole of France. It is home to more than 1,000 paintings, 2,500 drawings, 2,500 engravings and 30,000 books.

Highlights of the museum include works by Raphael and lots of other old masters too.

Visitors to the chateau will also enjoy a stroll in its terrific surrounds, with the gardens of Chantilly being a perfect preservation of a time of great decadence and beauty.
